Evite® And ConnecTV Launch Marketing Partnership To Amp Up Live Social TV Viewing Parties - In-Home And On Mobile

Companies Enhance Fan Viewing Parties for Sports Events, Awards Shows and Reality Competitions with Free ConnecTV App that Lets Party-goers Watch, Clip, Share - In Real-Time

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Evite (www.evite.com), the leader in digital invitations and social planning, today launched an innovative marketing partnership with ConnecTV, the new social video network for TV fans, to promote in-home and virtual viewing parties around marquee sports, reality competitions and Red Carpet awards shows. Fans will be invited to host and participate in LIVE TV get-togethers, featuring ConnecTV's free app that lets users clip, comment and share their favorite six-second TV gems with friends across Twitter, Facebook and email – and play to win top video honors in real-time viewing party competitions.

Evite and ConnecTV will join forces to create special LIVE viewing parties around such major TV events as the Golden Globes, the Academy Awards, the Super Bowl, the Grammy's, American Idol, and March Madness college basketball games. Evite will provide its millions of users with an opportunity to create custom viewing party invitations for in-home and virtual viewing parties, and to enliven their celebrations with décor and recipe ideas from Evite's party planning site, Evite Gatherings (http://ideas.evite.com). ConnecTV's social video app, which can be downloaded free at the iTunes App Store, will enable party-goers to use their mobile device to clip those perfect six-second moments from sports events and shows, personalize them with comments on screen, and one-touch share to their social spheres. Evite and ConnecTV judges will decide the top clips LIVE during the events and award the winners in real-time.

"Over the past few years, we've seen an acceleration of in-home parties hosted for major TV shows and sporting events, and we're delighted to partner with ConnecTV to add social sharing to the in-home party experience," said Angela Wilson Gyetvan, vice president of marketing, Evite. "Social media has also made virtual viewing parties an important shared experience. Being able to invite your friends to watch a great live show with you, no matter where they are, is core to Evite's mission of bringing people together."

"Sharing those special video, 'water cooler' moments from major TV events is key to the real-time fun and richness of ConnecTV – and a driving force behind our exciting partnership with Evite, the leading digital party invitation and social planning company," said Stacy Jolna, co-founder and chief marketing officer of ConnecTV. "We want to bring viewers back to the excitement of LIVE television to create and participate in the biggest viewing parties in the world - and let everyone share 'You-gotta-see-this!' video gems with all of their friends on Twitter, Facebook, email and more."

Evite and ConnecTV will launch the partnership with a series of social media promotions starting in January. Additionally, both companies will work with major advertisers, delivering sponsored invitation designs and advertising on Evite, while ConnecTV, through its patented TV AdSync Network™ technology, will also offer companion rich-media second-screen advertising experiences triggered by the brands' live TV spots during the broadcasts.

ConnecTV has been developing its social content and video platform for over three years. The team, led by senior executives from TV Guide and TiVo, has designed ConnecTV to be fun for consumers and a marketing, program promotion, and tune-in platform for movie studios and TV networks. The company has filed patents related to validating the program being watched, syncing up related content and metadata to live TV.
